There are many ways to adjust the spine and they all have one thing in common: moving vertebrae to relieve nerve pressure. Activator Methods has been in use since 1965 and uses a handheld adjusting instrument to adjust the spine. The Activator Instrument delivers a very precise, controlled mechanical thrust. All chiropractic techniques work - I use it because I like it. It is a very effective and more comfortable adjusting method. Recent research indicates no appreciable difference in the effectiveness of the Activator compared to manual methods. The difference comes down to personal preference of the patient and the doctor. Conflicting studies draw conflicting conclusions, but all seem to show that for low back and neck pain, chiropractic care of any type is more effective and less costly than traditional medical care.
